We are a group of dedicated first-year undergraduate students at Macaulay Honors College at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. For the Imagining New York Conference 2026, our group is researching the impact of government projects on local communities. In this study, we examine the Mega Jail being constructed in Chinatown, Manhattan. Our inspiration comes from our interest in the American criminal justice system and incarceration reform.
