Course: Macaulay Story Lab: The CUNY Honors Creative Workshop
This course empowers CUNY Honors students to use creative storytelling as a catalyst for community impact. Throughout the term, students will investigate social issues facing New York City, such as affordable housing, educational equity, environmental justice, and healthcare access, while exploring artistic and literary traditions of activism.
Students will experiment with creative forms that may include poetry, spoken word, storytelling, performance, visual installation, and digital media. Together, they will select a pressing issue and collaboratively design an artistic intervention: a public performance, a multimedia campaign, or a community-based activation.
The course culminates in a public performance, bringing the voices of CUNY changemakers to the greater NYC community.
