Students Protest Tuition Hikes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Flyers scattered around The College of Staten Island this morning screamed, &#8220;Class Cancelled Because Of The Revolution.&#8221; Students walked around campus with whistles and makeshift drums. Professors entered classrooms, unsure of how many students would attend their lectures.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday afternoon, a group of CSI students rallied against planned CUNY tuition hikes. Protestors organized a walkout, attracting the attention of the entire college community. The student protestors cited recent protests on Wall Street as &#8220;inspirational&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>New York State legislators passed an ordinance approving a $300 per year increase in tuition for the next five years at SUNY and CUNY institutions.<\/p>\n<p>After the official march across campus, students took to 1A, the administrative building that houses CSI President T\u00f3mas Morales&#8217;s office, to voice their grievances. Along with other high-ranking officials offices, 1A holds the CSI Macaulay Honors Lounge as well.<\/p>\n<p>After the demonstration dispersed, some of the participants went to join the protest on Wall Street.
