{"id":7213,"date":"2015-12-21T13:32:47","date_gmt":"2015-12-21T18:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eportfolios.macaulay.cuny.edu\/messenger\/?p=7213"},"modified":"2015-12-21T13:32:47","modified_gmt":"2015-12-21T18:32:47","slug":"star-wars-blasts-the-box-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openlab.macaulay.cuny.edu\/messenger\/2015\/12\/21\/star-wars-blasts-the-box-office\/","title":{"rendered":"Star Wars Blasts the Box Office"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Star Wars: The Force Awakens&#8221; brought in a record-breaking $215 million at the Box Office during its premiere weekend showing in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Episode Seven of the long-reigning Star Wars series very well fulfilled the $100-million-dollar expectation set by the Disney-Lucasfilm company days before release.\u00a0 The record sales outnumbered any other film-opening that weekend, and toppled \u201cJurassic World\u201d which stood with the highest grossing weekend premiere in June.<\/p>\n<p>The successful film debuted in approximately 4,134 North American locations.\u00a0 The franchise set a record by selling more than $100 million worth of advance tickets domestically, beginning on Tuesday and snowballing through Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The first showings of the seventh Star Wars movie generated 47% of its U.S. preview grosses from 3D screenings, including $5.7 millions from 391 Imax screens &#8211; nearly doubling the previous record. The Thursday night previews forecasted great success for the movie.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Disney company,\u00a0Star Wars has earned the notion of highest grossing movie on open-ending day since the $43.5 million earning by &#8220;Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2&#8221; four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The highly anticipated film, directed by J.J.
