In addition to fulfilling your Brooklyn College requirements, there are a number of requirements that Macaulay students fulfill.<\/span> You can find these at this link, with more information below. You can ask your advisor if you have questions. <\/span>
Requirements Specific to MHC<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Service<\/strong>:
Students are required to do 30 hours of community service, with a minimum of 10 hours in each of the first three years at Macaulay. Click here<\/a> for more information about what can be counted as community service and for instructions about submitting your hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internships:<\/strong>
Click here<\/a> for more info about the Macaulay internship requirement and here <\/a>for information about the online Internship Learning Agreement that you must submit before the internship begins<\/em> in order to have the internship count toward the requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Departmental Honors: <\/strong>
Departmental honors, which is different from making an individual course honors, is determined by your major department. Make sure to visit your major advisor to discuss this by your junior year. The department enters the departmental honors notation through the Registrar’s Exception Queue, so check with your department about their procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior Thesis\/Capstone Project<\/span>
<\/strong><\/a>Senior Thesis Announcement Form<\/a>
Fill this form out within the first three weeks of the semester. Note that your thesis must be completed in a designated class, and not as part of a regular class. It also must be completed in your major unless there are extenuating circumstances. Speak with your department and with your Macaulay advisor early to make sure you know how you will complete your thesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four Additional Honors Courses<\/span>
<\/a><\/strong>BC Honors Academy Honors Contract<\/a>
Use this form to turn a regular class into honors to fulfill the requirement of four upper level honors courses. Fill it out with your professor within the first five weeks of class. Hold onto it and hand it to your professor with your honors project. Keep the signed copy for your records. The professor can enter the “H” notation after the grades have been posted on CUNYfirst, by going to WebCentral> My teaching schedule. Your Macaulay advisor can assist if they have difficulty. It is your responsibility to make sure that the honors notation shows up in the notes section on your transcript. Instructions for your professor are here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

GPA
<\/strong>Macaulay students need a term GPA of 3.3 for the first three semesters. From spring of sophomore year on, you need a 3.5. If you are having difficulties in your classes, meet with your Macaulay advisor to strategize. Students who do not meet the GPA requirement will be placed on Academic Support for the following semester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
