It covers four years of undergraduate study not including fees and expenses.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Important facts about your scholarship<\/h2>\n<p>The following information is true of all tuition scholarships. But everyone&#8217;s financial situation is slightly different. Contact <a href=\"mailto:scholarships@macaulay.cuny.edu\">scholarships@macaulay.cuny.edu<\/a> for Macaulay&#8217;s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships if you have concerns.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>You must resubmit the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">FAFSA<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hesc.ny.gov\/pay-for-college\/apply-for-financial-aid\/nys-tap\/apply-for-tap.html\">TAP<\/a> applications every academic year to receive this scholarship.\u00a0<\/b>This is the case even if you don&#8217;t qualify for f<span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">ederal (Pell) or NY State (TAP) financial aid.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Your tuition scholarship covers:\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li>Full time tuition in Fall and Spring semesters: 12 credits or more<\/li>\n<li>Up to 8 credits in Summer<\/li>\n<li>One course up to 4 credits in Winter (Exemptions allowed for study abroad programs that require more credits.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><strong>The scholarship covers CUNY tuition, but not fees.<\/strong> See below about how to pay fees for each semester you enroll in.<\/li>\n<li>Your tuition scholarship might not be posted on CUNYfirst before payment is due. <em>Don&#8217;t worry, <\/em>if you have completed FAFSA and TAP and paid fees (see below) or other charges, this should not be a problem.<\/li>\n<li>Macaulay is a <em style=\"font-size: 1rem\">last-dollar\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">or\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1rem\">gap\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">scholarship. This means that if you qualify for Pell or TAP financial aid grants, this money is applied to cover you tuition <em>first,<\/em> and the Macaulay tuition scholarship covers the difference. <\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li>You won&#8217;t <span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">receive<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"> Macaulay\u00a0<em>plus\u00a0<\/em>a Pell or TAP grant<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">If your Pell and\/or TAP grant is\u00a0<em>greater\u00a0<\/em>than the cost of tuition and fees, you may receive additional money each semester.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">You must have New York State <strong>residency<\/strong> to qualify to <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">receive<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"> the scholarship. Students with a home address outside NY State are eligible to be Macaulay students, but must pay out-of-state tuition, and will not receive the scholarship.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.qc.cuny.edu\/admissions\/residency\/\">More info residency, and how to prove it, here.<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Macaulay Honors College at Queens welcomes immigrants, regardless of citizenship status.<\/strong> If you cannot complete the FAFSA due to immigration status, complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hesc.ny.gov\/dream\/\">Senator Jos\u00e9 Peralta New York State DREAM Act<\/a> application, as well as the TAP application. You may also be able to receive TAP funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Paying Fees on CUNYfirst<\/h2>\n<p>We frequently get asked how to pay fees (and not tuition) on CUNYfirst. Please see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qc.cuny.edu\/br\/tuition-costs\/\">here<\/a> on calculating tuition and fees.<\/li>\n<li>There may be other fees associated with your bill. If you are unsure, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qc.cuny.edu\/br\/staff-contact\/\">contact the Bursar&#8217;s Office<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The total of fees for a full semester is usually $303.85 but can change depending on your major and the courses you are taking.<\/li>\n<li>All charges labeled as \u201cfees\u201d are the student&#8217;s responsibility to pay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select Make a Payment from the left menu and follow the steps to pay\u00a0<em>only the total of fees.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1 class=\"p1\"><b>Additional Benefits<\/b><\/h1>\n<h2>The Opportunities Fund<\/h2>\n<p>You have access to a $1500 grant to help fund your Experiential Education requirements, including research, internships, and study abroad. Competitive Enhanced Grants for up to $5000 are also available, based on a Statement of Justification essay.<\/p>\n<h3>Accessing the Opportunities Fund<\/h3>\n<p>When you&#8217;re ready to apply for the fund, it&#8217;s crucial to read all of the policies found on the Macaulay <a href=\"https:\/\/macaulay.cuny.edu\/opportunities\/opportunities-fund\/accessing-the-opportunities-fund\/\">Accessing the Opportunities Fund<\/a> page, and in the <a href=\"https:\/\/macaulay.cuny.edu\/oppfund-docs\/opp-fund-overview.pdf\">Guidelines<\/a>. The following info is a basic summary of what you need to know to gain access.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHEN TO APPLY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Application periods are at the start of each Fall and Spring semester.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse;width: 100%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;text-align: center\"><strong>FALL APPLICATIONS<\/strong>Seniors: All activities<br \/>\nJuniors: All activities<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 50%\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>SPRING APPLICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Juniors and Sophomores: All activities<br \/>\nSeniors: Internships and Research only and 30 hours of Community Service must be complete.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is your first time accessing the Opportunities Fund.<\/li>\n<li>You are enrolled during the semester applying.<\/li>\n<li>You are within four years of study.<\/li>\n<li>You have completed FAFSA &amp; TAP (or Dream Act &amp; TAP) applications.<\/li>\n<li>You have achieved 80% or higher on the Opportunities Fund Online Quiz. (found within the application portal)<\/li>\n<li>Your activity occurs before the end date of the final semester.<\/li>\n<li>Study abroad requests must be in advance.<\/li>\n<li>Internship\/research reimbursements may be requested up to the end of the semester after the activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>HOW TO APPLY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/macaulay.cuny.edu\/oppfund-docs\/opp-fund-overview.pdf\">guidelines.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Talk to your advisor: We can help you prepare your materials and work on your Statement of Justification essay.<\/li>\n<li>Gather the application materials from the <a href=\"https:\/\/macaulay.cuny.edu\/oppfund-docs\/study-abroad-checklist.pdf\">Study Abroad<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/macaulay.cuny.edu\/oppfund-docs\/internship-checklist.pdf\">Internship\/Research<\/a> Checklist.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the <a href=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.macaulay.cuny.edu\/opportunitiesfundsportal\/\">application.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Book Stipend<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Macaulay students at Queens College <em>only <\/em>will receive an additional $375 stipend per semester. Please note, the stipend may arrive after books are needed to be purchased.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n<h2><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Priority Registration<\/span>\u200b<\/h2>\n<p>After the start of their first semester, Macaulay students are among the very first groups of undergraduates able to register for the following semester. This is useful for getting a spot in popular courses and completing key degree requirements in a timely manner.<\/p>\n<h2>Access to Technology<br style=\"font-size: 1.14286rem\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 1.14286rem\">Laptop Computers<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">While it isn&#8217;t possible to provide every student with a laptop computer, we hope to make access to technology possible for as many scholars as we can. If and when funding becomes available, we may be able to provide laptops to students, starting with the Class of 2027. Please contact <a href=\"mailto:macaulay@qc.cuny.edu\">macaulay@qc.cuny.edu<\/a> to let us know if you are interested.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">Students from the Class of 2026 and earlier (or Class of 2027 with deferred admission from the previous year) may address questions about laptop policy and service to <a href=\"mailto:laptop@mhc.cuny.edu\">laptop@mhc.cuny.edu<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Student in financial need with eligibility determined by their FAFSA SAI index, may be able to attain a laptop from MHC @ QC, please contact <a href=\"mailto:macaulay@qc.cuny.edu\"><strong>macaulay@qc.cuny.edu<\/strong><\/a> for more information or reach out to your respective advisor. This account can be retained after you graduate!
