It first opened its doors around 1990, at a time when Jackson Heights was rapidly becoming a hub for South Asian immigrants. Considering this was 1990 and there weren’t many Indian restaurants open, the founders of Dosa Delight recognized a growing need for familiar, home-cooked vegetarian meals that reflected the culinary traditions of their country. What started as a small restaurant built on community values has since become a local landmark. Dosa Delight is a small business with so much story.

The restaurant’s name speaks for itself—dosas are one of its most popular dishes. A dosa is a crispy, fermented rice and lentil crepe filled with spiced potatoes or vegetables, and Dosa Delight serves a wide variety, from the classic Masala Dosa to specialty versions like the Rava Dosa. But the menu doesn’t stop there. Guests can enjoy everything from mixed vegetable Uttapam and pav bhaji to samosa Chaat and rich curries. Everything is vegetarian, and many options are vegan, making it a favorite not just for South Asian families but also for health-conscious diners and those exploring plant-based diets.
