The menu sticks to the classics, and that is exactly what the regulars love. Coming right off the train, 7:00 AM sharp, you could expect a hot coffee, muffin, and bagel. Students coming to class early in the morning could enjoy a delicious turkey bacon, egg, and cheese. As the morning rush fades, the lunchtime crowd starts to gather. The go-to order is the chicken over rice for lunch, packed with marinated chicken atop soft, flavorful yellow rice, crisp lettuce, tomatoes, and warm pita bread. Other favorites include lamb over rice, falafel platters, and gyro wraps. What makes Wasi’s special isn’t just the food, it’s the people. Both vendors are sweet, personable, and get to know their regular customers. Prices are relatively cheap, perfect for hungry college students, and perfect for a quick bite after class. The cart’s location right outside the North Building makes it a natural meeting point. On any day, you’ll see students laughing, chatting, or quietly eating a platter before dashing to class. Many students consider a quick stop at this cart a ritual between classes or after long study sessions. In a chaotic city where long lines and packed stores dissuade many students, Wasi’s is a familiar pit stop you can always count on. Wasi’s has earned its place as a true campus landmark and a cherished part of the Hunter College experience.

695 Park Ave, New York, NY 10065

By Abhiveer Singh, Armand Surban
The Upper East Side holds Wasi’s Food Truck, a Halal Cart serving classics such as chicken over rice, lamb over rice, falafel, gyros, shawarma, and kebabs for eager and hungry Hunter College students and faculty.
Campus: Hunter College
Professor: Michael Owen Benediktsson
Location: Hunter College East 69th St. Park Ave.
References: No references used for location entry

Tucked right outside Hunter College’s North Building entrance stands Wasi’s Food Truck serving both breakfast and lunch foods.
