The \u201cbullish\u201d metaphor it represents is not just about Wall Street markets but also reflects the confidence and resilience of New Yorkers as a whole. The statue itself was created by Italian artist Arturo Di Modica in 1989, who installed it illegally outside the New York Stock Exchange after the 1987 stock market crash. It was later moved to Bowling Green Park, where it remains today as one of the most photographed and visited landmarks in the city.
