He is commonly referred to as a &#8220;Nuyorican&#8221; (New York\/Puerto Rican) artist, who&#8217;s work addresses issues of Puerto Rican life in the U.S. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and is the son of two Puerto Rican immigrants.
