I chose this object because it caught my eye right away. I was also intrigued since it honors Crabtree&#8217;s achievements as both the first woman and the first Black woman deep diver in the United States Army, showing great accomplishment in an area that has historically excluded people like her. The artwork of her wearing the diving suit shows Afrofuturist ideas of strength and adventure.
