While NYC does contain some parks and gardens, the green space is minimal, so pollinators in particular play a very vital role in plant survival and biodiversity. Our research demonstrates that while honeybees may be well-known and economically valuable, bumblebees are often more efficient pollinators, making more frequent flower visits and thriving in urban environments.<\/p>\n<p>What we want people to take away is the bees&#8217; direct connectivity to our daily lives. About one-third of the food we eat depends on bee pollination, meaning declines in bee populations would have major effects on crops, food security, and overall ecosystem health.
