For each topic, we will have a discussion board. This is a place to talk about the readings, share additional sources, and discuss your thoughts. The discussion board is optional, so please don’t use AI to create posts. This is about engagement with each other!

I just wanted to share another resource for anyone interested in understanding the mechanics of LLMs more deeply, and neural networks in general. To be honest I thought the Medium article “A Very Gentle Introduction…” was good, but clunky in parts and a bit unintuitive. If anyone is familiar with the YouTube account 3blue1brown run by Grant Sanderson, he publishes beautiful math educational content accompanied by brilliant visuals that simplify extremely complex topics so they can be understood in a more intuitive way. He did a whole series on Neural Nets / LLMs / Transformers & Attention , and though it does end up going heavy into the math I think his pedagogical methods are really effective in the format. Here’s the full playlist and here’s a shorter overview from that series: LLM’s explained briefly.

Here’s another great video about how diffusion works in generative AI (also 3b1b but a guest presenter from another great channel Welch Labs)
