EXPECTATIONS
Arrive on time.
Once class starts, please do not leave the room—it is highly distracting to everyone.
Listen to all points of view and conduct yourself with respect and thoughtful consideration for everyone’s ideas.
Be aware of how your behavior can distract others’ learning process.
Refrain from causal chatting.
This classroom is not a place to sleep or do outside work.
Mute digital devices and remove them from sight during class.
Laptops may not be opened until told to do so; Place keep “Lids Down” Audio or video recording is not permitted at any time.
If you have an emergency alert me before the start of class.
Unauthorized communication or entertainment includes web-surfing, messaging, email, chat, DVD or video viewing, music or game playing.
If you engage in uncooperative behavior or disruptive activities, you will receive a warning and receive a 5-point reduction on participation. Any further offence will result in Academic Sanctions that include a final grade reduction (A to A-; A- to B+ and so on) and a report to the Dean of Students.
ATTENDANCE
You are required to attend classes and all scheduled events. If you accumulate more than 2 unexcused absences, are chronically late (10 minutes or more; 4 times or more) you will lose 2 points from your participation grade (i.e. 20 to 18) for each additional absence. You are responsible for the completion of all assignments on time. If you know you will miss a class due to religious observance, please notify me by September 9.
