  • Religion and 67th Street

    We explored the religious culture of the 67th Street area because we all come from different backgrounds. We wanted to explore the diverse makeup of the neighborhood and the Macaulay student body. We learned about the various religious establishments in the area, and the contributions they have made to the city. The neighborhood is full of innovative and historical religious communities that have profoundly affected the lives of the members of this community.

    We embedded video of the area around the Macaulay Center, namely stores and important cultural centers. We chose it because it is important to be able to see where you’re going in New York City, not knowing streets or names on a map. We learned how to embed video and picture into a map, as well as how the html format works.

  • Rediscovering the Mac Store

    Matthew Connelly, Joseph Han, Juan Mendez, Kay Mok, Angela Ng, Fred Shabat, Tiffany Wong, and Angela Wu from BARUCH

    What did you do?

    Our group went on an enlivened and thrilling exploration at the Apple store on Broadway at West 67th Street near Macaulay. We tried using different Apple products such as AppleTV, iPod Touch, iPhone, etc. and browsed through the various softwares and hardwares.

    Why did you choose it?

    Apple is awesome! Seriously. We love our MacBook Pros.

    What did you learn?

    We learned that we could clean our laptop screens in the Apple store with their spray. There were many graphic programs on display also. We also found out that the AppleTV plays Youtube HD videos. The iPad is coming out in late March and the Apple store will have it on the first day! We used iMovie to put this video together and learned some techniques.

  • MAC-aulay vs PC

    We created a video skit highlighting the benefits of Macintosh operating system compared to the Windows operating system. The video was shot on location at the Apple Store at Broadway and W67th Street.

    We chose to highlight the Apple store because the Macs are an integral part of the lives of Macaulay students. The Apple Store is one of the newest and most dominant additions to the West 67th Street Business District.

    We learnt that people are not willing to be recorded on camera and that you cannot film any Apple Store employee. And if we work as group, we can come up with many interesting ideas. We learned that it is important to carefully plan out the project before we jump into it. We helped each other to know the applications better such as iMovie and Garageband.

  • Review of Magnolia Bakery

    We reviewed Magnolia Bakery as customers.  We tasted a few of their baked goods and drinks and observed the atmosphere.

    Magnolia Bakery is a well known establishment and we wanted to introduce it to new comers to the area and people who have not heard of it.

    We learned that the city is full of rich food and some of the best baked goods can be found in a deceivingly quaint looking storefront.

  • LINCOLN CENTER GONE WILD!

    What did you do- Why did you choose it- What did you learn?
    We chose Lincoln center because of its interesting history and its iconic status as New York City landmark. Some of our group members attended school in the area, and were enthusiastic about choosing this location.

    We did a historical analysis, and a summary of the variety of services provided at the Lincoln Art Center.

    We learn a lot of fun facts about the center. It was designed by Robert Moses, and President Eisenhower attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Some of the pictures we found show that that ceremony was a star-studded event.

  • Winter Skin on 67th

    1. We explored the upkeep of of winter skin with the help of makeup and skin care boutiques on 67th.

    2. We all suffer from dry, flaky skin and chapped lips during the winter season.

    3. We learnt about the three main steps of hydrating skin and preventing the degradation of the skin.
