Session Prompts
Activity 1: OpenLab post
After you make your OpenLab account, your next task is to create a post. We’ll teach you to:
- Make a post
- Add an image, including alt text
- Categorize your post
- Tag your post
Your post should include an image of your choice, a category for your home campus and area of concentration, and a few tags about your interests. After the workshop, find some posts made by people with similar interests and comment back to them and add them as OpenLab friends!

OpenLab Post Prompt
- An affirmation for your classmates or self with an inspirational image.
- One thing you are excited about
- One thing you need community support to get through
Activity 2: Note to self
Each year, incoming Macaulay students will write a letter to their future selves. This is a community place for drafting, revealing, and archiving these letters. In your junior year, your letters will be published on this site, and you will be able to read, respond, and reflect.
The Class of 2030 is the first to revive this Macaulay tradition, in celebration of your journey at Macaulay and the college’s 25th anniversary.
Add your letter by the end of September, and we’ll take care of the rest. Submit your letter here!

Note to self prompt
Imagine yourself a few years from now. What do you want your future self to remember about yourself today?
How you plan to use your Macaulay education to help shape the future of your community and New York?
