Hub: Your Story, Our Story

What This Project Is

“Your Story, Our Story” is a shared collection of student reflections that connects individual experiences to a larger narrative across courses and disciplines. This project is a collaboration with the NYC Tenement Museum. Students contribute a short written story paired with an image, which is then reviewed and published on the public site.

Why Use This in Your Class

This project offers a simple way to:
  • Encourage reflection and personal connection to course material
  • Give students a sense of authorship and audience
  • Contribute to a growing, shared archive of student experiences

How It Works

The process is simple:
  1. Students are given a short prompt or reflection assignment
  2. They submit their story and image using the submission form
  3. Submissions are reviewed and published on the site
No additional setup is required.

What Students Submit

Each student provides:
  • A short written story (100–300 words recommended)
  • One image connected to their story
  • 1–3 themes to help organize their submission
Full instructions are available here: How to Submit Your Story

What You Need to Do

Minimal setup is required. You can:
  • Introduce the assignment in your class
  • Share the submission link with students
  • Optionally provide a prompt related to your course
You do not need to:
  • manage submissions
  • edit content
  • handle publishing
