You will be creating blog posts for this assignment. To do that, click the “+ New” button in the header menu above (where your name is when you are logged in). Click “Post” and you’ll be taken to an editing window. Please add a “SitC Posts” category tag to your post. You can click here to see previous posts.

Your first SitC post is due [date] and is a reflection on the BioBlitz.  I recommend you write this right after your shift at BioBlitz so it is fresh in your mind. This first post should be a 100-150 word reflection on your BioBlitz experience. I’d like to hear what you thought of the 2024 BioBlitz. You can write about what you were most excited by, what surprised you, what you wished you had seen, how it made you feel about nature in NYC, etc. Anything you want to reflect on is fine for this post, but PLEASE be honest. You will get no extra points if you tell me it was the greatest thing you’ve ever done – although of course I’d love to hear it if it was. We really read these and take your thoughts to heart and are always looking for feedback to improve the BioBlitz. If for some reason you want to share your thoughts with just me, please create your post, then password protect it and send me the password (you can do this in the Publish window at the right side of the screen where you make your post). If you have an excused absence from the BioBlitz, your first SitC post should be 100-150 words about your favorite area for nature exploration in the city or where you would hold your dream BioBlitz.

Your second SitC post is due [date] and will be written after you attend ONE free public science event during the semester and write about what you learned and what important Science Sense skills were discussed or used. There is a link with a list of approved events below. You should write about 10-12 sentences about your experience. Full credit will only be given to posts that discuss the specific Science Sense skills used or discussed at the event. Post your reflections as a New Post (from the top menu bar) AND make sure you give them the category of “SitC Posts.” Please include in your post a screen grab from the event you attended (use the media library to embed the image).

If you see any events you think are appropriate for this (free and about science), let me know. If they are appropriate, I’ll add them to this list. Do not tell me after the fact that you’ve gone to an event that is not listed and expect to get credit for it. You have until the last day after the last day of class to complete this assignment.
