We wanted to look at how big markets tend to advertise hosting small businesses to leverage the relationships communities have with small businesses. New Yorkers want to support small businesses because small businesses give back to local communities. These markets tend to host more big companies while reaping the benefits of the relationships small businesses have with the community.
In completing this project, we learned about the role small businesses play in New York communities. When talking with small business owners, they all shared that there was a strong community around their businesses. Many owners say they have returning customers each year who buy their products. These owners, each with their own unique businesses, act as artisans, decorating the communities of New York.
