Carlito’s Food Truck is very popular amongst the Dominican American and Latino community of the Bronx. Located on Webster Avenue, Carlito distinguishes its business from others by offering affordable prices, big portions, and great vibes. With an extensive menu that ranges from Chimis—a Dominican burger with bread, pork or beef, onions, tomatoes, cabbage and ketchup—to Yaroas—fries or sweet plantain with meat, onions, garlic, and bell peppers, topped with cheese, ketchup, and mayonnaise—to Mofongitos— a mound made of mashed plantains with garlic and broth and chicharrón— Carlitos brings a little bit of his island to New York.¹ With his humorous and confident promotions through various social media, such as Instagram, Carlito’s has been able to win the hearts and stomachs of over 33,300 people based on its following.² Many celebrities who are beloved by the Dominican community, such as Arlene MC³ or Las Ocurrencias de Victor⁴ (both very popular social media comedians in the community), have participated in promoting the business.
