Although Guac Time is scattered throughout all parts of NYC, its singular location in Staten Island attracts floods of customers looking for “A Taste of Mexico”. The founders of this rapidly growing chain, Ash, Sunny, and Manny, had originally immigrated to the United States over 20 years ago and began working in various Mexican restaurants. After saving up enough money, they opened their first restaurant in 2021 and the rest is history! Guac Time gives New Yorkers a chance to experience the taste and variety of Mexican cuisine, and also prioritizes catering to all diverse groups that make up NYC.

Guac Time is highly regarded for its signature guacamole (hence the name), the birria tacos, and loaded burritos. Upon my entry to the store, the myriad of flavors, toppings, and sauces were a pleasant surprise and the bowls I purchased were generously-portioned as well. The flow of customers was constant and upon further observation, it seems that Guac Time aims to place restaurants in diverse neighborhoods and high-traffic areas, being able to cater food to a broad demographic. Many popular bowls and burritos are also priced around $12.99 – $14.00, making it extremely affordable for customers.

Two select bowls at Guac Time, showcasing its customizable variety. Both bowls are layered with proteins, fresh vegetables, and toppings for a visually appealing (and tasty!) look.
The bowl I got included chicken, a variety of peppers, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, cheese, brown rice, black beans, chipotle sauce, as well as guacamole. The options were easy to view and staple bowl items were present. Also, there were around 6 different sauces clearly labeled for customers to choose from. Overall, my bowl was filled to the brim and was definitely filling. The staff were very friendly and gave me a moment as I took in my food options. Besides bowls, they offer burritos, beef/chicken birria, a beef birria pie, nachos, quesadillas, fries, tacos, churros, plantains and tres leches. As I walked towards the array of inviting seats, I read a sign that said “What time is it? It’s Guac Time”, helping to establish the popularity and respect the restaurant had accumulated over the past few years. Guac Time’s menu is extremely appealing, featuring many Mexican foods for all to try.
The unique Mexican cuisine Guac Time provides is perfect for those willing to explore the boundless food culture New York City provides. Guac Time is one of many restaurants around NYC that brings together the stories of immigrants, Mexican culture, and quality food that is definitely worth trying out!
Come visit Guac Time, known for their delicious Mexican dishes that include burritos, nachos, quesadillas, among other delectable and protein-filled foods.
