A Statistical Analysis: Mental Health Disparities Between Hunter College Students on the Basis of Honors Status and Housing Arrangements

Many students attending Hunter College have reported feelings of loneliness that they attribute to the school’s “commuter culture”. We wanted to investigate whether these rumors hold any true weight by surveying Hunter college students on their levels of social anxiety, depression, and/or loneliness. We mainly compared commuters vs. dormers and honors students vs. non-honors students. From our responses we found that there is no significant difference in social anxiety, depression, and/or loneliness between these groups.

  1. I love your study! Including the p-values and such detailed methods shows you really got the most out of STEAM! I think a larger sample would yield some super interesting results.
