Our project is a video that shares the financial struggles happening in the Norwood community. We created a video showing closed businesses and buildings that families can no longer afford to live in. While these images play, you hear the voices of local business owners and neighbors talking about their current financial problems, rising rents, and the fear of losing their homes or businesses. The goal is to make the audience feel empathy and compassion toward the people living in our community. By using both visual and audio elements, people can get a sense of Norwood’s housing and economic issues.
This project showed me that art can express real-life struggles. By mixing images and voices, we showed a struggle that facts alone cannot show. Art helps people feel what others are going through, and it can bring attention to problems in a community. This project showed me that art is not just about creativity but it can be used as a tool for awareness and giving people a voice.
