Our project tells the story of an MC who despite his efforts, simply cannot put down his phone. Consequently, he misses all the art/beauty of the city. In spite of the fact that this is indeed an mere skit, its a problem that plagues teenagers like us every day in the city. By exaggerating our MC’s tunnel vision, we highlight how technology can pull us away from the meaningful experiences in each of our lives.
As we completed this project, it allowed us to realize that art in New York isn’t just something you find inside museums. It’s quite literally "embedded" in everyday life. As we recorded clips around the city, we noticed how murals, street performers, and public sculptures become part of the identity of each neighborhood. These artistic expressions reflect the culture, history, struggles, and stories of the communities that create and interact with them. In other words, you could tell the story of a city simply based upon the art you see around the area.
