Our project analyzes the information gathered through the 2025 Bioblitz at Brooklyn Bridge Park in relation to bees. Through the data available from the event, we aimed to see what factors dictated similarities and differences in diversity between bee communities at Brooklyn Bridge Park and those in other locations as a comparison to identify key factors. This is due to how we examined a lack of bee diversity and how this could be tied to floral traits or flower species in terms of flower density, species richness, corolla length, and more.
What we want people to take away from this is how bees may have their preferences towards certain flowers which as a result, correlated to the bees commonly found at the Bioblitz in 2025. By knowing this, we can urge those managing these spaces such as the Brooklyn Bridge Park to perhaps provide a wider range of flowers throughout the area as a way of attracting more bee species.
