My identity mask is a representation of my four kittens, who take up majority of my life. Out of my four kitties, two being Tabby’s and two being Tuxedos, I could not decide which were more important to represent so I took a different approach. I took traits from all four of them and found out they most matched a cheetah, just on a smaller scale. They run around like maniacs, they have markings that differentiate themselves but you can also recognize that clearly they are tabby’s/tuxedos. The nose and ears are shaped out of air dry clay and painted to match that of a cheetah. The spots are half painted by myself and the other half my cats after they ran through the paint.
Completing this identity project was very interesting. The previous projects had us really explore the history of NYC arts or the meanings whilst this one had us explore ourselves. It showcased how many artists get involved in art, especially like graffiti. It created an outlet that let us express ourselves while also creating something meaningful to ourselves.
